Sunset Pics in Olathe

I was on my way to work, when I noticed one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen (non storm), so I turned around and got my camera, and subsequently, was late to work about 20 minutes. It was worth it!

Trains, trains, trains, always waiting on trains in Olathe!

Those are gorgeous! I LOVE the train!!! (I used to drive a van hauling UP train crews around, doing train assists... I LOVE trains!)

I agree, the train shot is cool. Wonder what it would look like using a wide angle with the train passing through a small town with a semi-long exposure?

Thanks guys.

Trains kind of scare me, I have seen a video of that little girl who runs out and doesn't stop and the train hits her, and ever since I can't help but think about trains that way. I have many friends who work for the railroad, it's not an easy life by any means.

Bill,

That would be a sweet shot. I was shooting the sunset and the one of 1,000 trains that passes through Olathe rolled through and delayed me even more from my employment. I think that pic was like a handheld 1 sec exposure at 200 ISO. It would be cool to do right at sunset like that (or maybe just about 10 mins prior) Stop it down to like f/36 and shoot a long one and still get the daylight effect with the blurred train.

Another gorgeous sunset tonight, uploading now.

I heard many horror stories from the train crews myself... Just like anything else, if you follow the rules and be careful the accidents can be avoided...
