Chase account 3/30

Met up with Nick Grillo, Kurt Hulst, Chris Foltz, Marc Dahmer, Darin Brunin, Eric B Hymer and another guy from MO that I can't remember. (Sorry) Started out in Emporia moved to El Dorado where we chased our first tornado warned storm of the day. Long story short we went from there to Topeka, back down to SE KS where we stumbled (again) into Mike Hollingshead. Saw a rope tornado (Pictures coming soon) that appeared to be scraping the ground. Lucky as hell to catch. Nice meeting you guys.

Damage Photos

Here are just a few of many pictures Darin Brunin and I took the other day in Saline County MO near milemarker 71 and north and east. Still capturing video stills of the tornado and I will put them up in a few days.

Wow.

I'm going to make this short, cause I'm exhausted from this week. Witnessed 4 tornadoes yesterday. I think I said, "Oh my God" about 300 times yesterday. Those who were night chasing know what I'm talking about. We actually drove through a tornadic circulation north of Sedalia, MO. Unfortunately my video camera battery was dead. Debris of different sorts was rotating in a big swath around us. Bracing for impact, we somehow managed to get through. If you ask why this happened, all I can say is I don't know. We saw the meso, beaver tail and thought it was further away than anticipated. Power flashes illuminated to our north shortly after. Not only that, but we saw a wedge that got me a little excited, and yet another one on the ground at the same time. We lost the wedge as it approached (or seemed to) Marshall MO, but a new meso formed to our direct north, and formed tornado #3 of the day. My tripod was (and it's heavy duty) knocked over from the inflow, and I didn't get but one photo of the other tornado. Darin Brunin, however, caught it on his. From TESSA to High Risk in just a few days, and meeting chasers along the way was a great time for myself. Great to meet Tony Laubach, Angie Norris, Mike Mezeul and friends, Reed Timmer, Joel Taylor and friend also. I'm sure I'm missing out on a few from this weekend.

Will post photos later tonight or tomorrow.

Chase account coming

Darin, Eric B, and Dean Cosgrove and I waited forever for intiation and finally got something to chase near Wellington Ks. Nice inflow band with a decent lowering if not wall cloud (lightning not sporadic), but had to get home early (as it seemed to be high based and weakened). Will add a pic or two and a brief summary later. I hope today plays out better. Will have to talk to Dean and find out (he was further south, we were on north end of storm)more details. We then messed around with some multicell poop in Lawrence and enjoyed some small hail. Tired, hope this makes sense.

Bentley KS

Is my 1,000th visitor. Yay. I am going to go out on a limb here and disagree with everyone's targets on Saturday (Assuming anything happens). I'll choose Meade KS, maybe a tad north. ;) I don't think i'll be chasing it though, unless something drastic changes. Come on GULF.
